Does working at a retirement home look good for college? Basically it is community service because i'm a waitress and serve them food four nights a week. Do colleges like to see this rather then working at like dunkin donuts? Thanks
I'm thinking of working in a retirement home. Advice, help please!?
I'm thinking of working at a retirement home. At first I looked at nursing home, but, God bless those people that can bathe and change their underwear, but that's not for me, so thought about retirement home. I'm very kind and compassionate and patient. I do not have a nursing or a similar degree is that required? Can I just walk in and if the head workers like me, then I get some sort of training or do I have to have a specific background to work in a retirement home?
How can someone afford drug prescriptions after retirement?
My dad was employed at his job for about 30 years and had a good union with great heath benefits health insurance and drug prescription medicine benefits . My mom is really sick and takes about 6 different prescriptions a month which are really expensive. Since my dad had benefits from his job had only had to pay a $2 co pay for the drugs. Now he retired and his job does not have retiree benefits. Is there any affordable way for my dad to get the drugs my mom need? She is already on medicare plan b but does not qualify for the prescription medicine part D. Any ideas?
My dad is 53 & both his dad & G~pa died of heart attacks before retirement. Now he has had a collapsed lung?
Findings Compared to 6 12 09. The previously notes 2 small nodules in the right middle lobe & left lower lobe are not seen on todays exam. Again seen is a 1.6 x 1.6 cm nodule in the left lower lobe laterally which appears essentially unchanged since prior scan. No new lung nodule are identified. Some mild emphysematous changes, primarlily in the lung apices, again seen. Some mild scarring at left lung base anteriorly is again noted. No pleural pathology noted. No hilar, mediastinal or axillary adenopathy identified. Unchanged moderate tharacic spine degenerative changes again seen. The thoracic aorta is unremarkable. Possibility of some minimal calcific plaque in the LAD coronary artery is again raised. Limited imaging into the upper abdomen is unremarkable. ImpressionUnchanged mild COPD, thoracic spine degerative changes, mild left lung base scarring & possible coronary artery disease again seen.No significant change in the nonspecific left lower lobe nodule the lack of interval change, as well as the findings on the PET CT, suggest this lesion might be benign. Two other small lung nodules previously identified, are not reproduced on todays scan. Dad went in the 17th for hernia surgery. Complained of chest pains & the nurse dismissed it saying this is from where they tied him down during surgery. We got him upstairs & in a matter of mins had him in the ER. They found he had a collapsed lung. Treated with O2 & xrays, he was dismissed late sunday night. Now I catch him getting winded really easily & of course in a lil pain due to surgery. He is on an inhaler 2x's daily. Last night he wanted to go get Chinese & towards the end of the meal just broke out in a god offle sweat. I took him home & told him to go lay down This has me worried to death Seriously, affraid to leave him Let me know what you think
Brought my 3month old baby to a retirement home and now im parinoid?
Befoe I brought my 3 month old to my old work place I called to make sure no one was sick and I wasn't going to allow the residents to touch him but when I got there everyone was so glad to see him and a did allow a few to hold them, ones I know were clean. I made sure I washed his hands after anyone touched him and as soon as I got him home I gave him a bath and changed his clothes. Is there a chance he caught anything? Im so parinoid now.

I'm 13 and my Dad is quite old he's 60 and he has retired. My mum told me a couple of weeks back that he is depressed and he is getting help from a doctor for it. But he is always mad at me and thinks he is always in the right when sometimes he isn't my mum doesn't say anything to him because she says hes getting help but I just wondered if anyone has any tips to cheer him up that wont cost to much or ways to cope with his outbursts.

Was drawing SSI and was put on Social Security Retirement early at age 62 without signing up?
My dad was drawing SSI and was denied Social Security Disability. Last month he was automatically placed on Social Security Retirement early at age 62 and according to Medicare he is not eligible for Medicare benefits until age 65. My questions are 1 Why was he put on early retirement at age 62 without signing up? 2 What other benefit programs can he qualify for if he has been dropped from Medicaid and doesn't qualify for Medicare until age 65?
